Shayne Oliver's popular streetwear luxury brand Hood by Air will be put on pause. The news broke Thursday and the hiatus is effective immediately.

Oliver, who will be designing for Helmut Lang for a collection this September, will be focused on his new role over there. Speculation on the future of Hood by Air has been questionable ever since he cancelled his show for Paris Fashion Week without any explanation.

Leilah Weinraub, the company's cofounder and CEO, will be stepping away from the brand to focus on directorial projects.

Hood by Air on pause until further notice

Oliver began the brand in 2007 by first producing t-shirts. He stepped away from the project to focus on other things, but relaunched the line as a full ready-to-wear brand in 2012, where it gained a celebrity following of rappers, musicians and models. RIhanna and Kanye West are known to rock the label.

Oliver has refused outside investments since he started the brand, which left him operating on revenue generated from sales. The problem with this is if sales are down, he's left with nothing to fall back on.

He is expected to bring more of a contemporary, luxury streetwear aesthetic to Helmut Lang, so his designs will still have a place. For now, the chapter is closed on Hood by Air, but whether or not he is done writing the book remains to be seen.
