London - Suki Waterhouse has teamed up with her best friend Poppy Jamie to create their own affordable, high-end accessories brand. Named Pop & Suki, the debut collection features customisable handbags and jewellery which are available for preorder on Monday.
The brand will offer its products for sale online directly to consumers via its website popandsuki.com, targeting millennials. The duo previously launched their Instagram account for the brand earlier this year to share images of the upcoming release and have managed to gain over 18,000 followers.
The label is set to launch with two handbag style, a shopper tote and smaller camera bag, available in three shades: pink, black and cognac. The camera bag, which retails for 195 US dollars, can be personalised on the bottom and customers are free to purchase a number of interchangeable straps and handtags, such as tassels, to make it their own. The handbags are also made in downtown Los Angeles, in support of local manufacturing.
“We didn’t want to create just another It bag; we wanted to develop timeless pieces that could be applicable to anyone without looking cookie-cutter,” explained Jamie to Vogue. “We aimed to juxtapose functionality with femininity—we wanted elegant pieces that could withstand the wear and tear of busy lives,” added Waterhouse.
In addition, the duo have crafted a jewellery range, which includes a number of necklaces with interchangeable charms in silver, gold vermeil and 14 karat gold. Following the brand launch next month, Waterhouse and Jamie aim to expand their product offering, with plans for sunglasses, tech accessories and stationary in the pipe line.
