London - As Rimowa continues to mark its 120th anniversary with new designs and collaboration, the luxury luggage label unveils its latest partnership with Italian streetwear brand Off-White.
For the brands first collaboration, Rimowa and Off-White have developed a "distinctively original transparent polycarbonate carry-on case." The suitcase features black handles, wheels and detailing, with labelling on the lock and telescopic handle that are reminiscent of Off-White' s styling.
"The simplicity and ease of teaming up with a friend to update a product is always an exciting project," said Virgil Abloh, founder of Off-White and Louis Vuitton's menswear artistic director, in a statement. "Rimowa was one of the first collaborations I started working on, back in 2014. Alexandre and I came up with a super cool and functional product. As a supporter of the brand and someone who uses the luggage, I was keen to what I would want to modify with our collaboration. I strongly feel that what you will see in collaboration is the result of this."
Known for his ability to create something covetable from the mundane, Off-White's design is a playful response to society's current state of privacy, surveillance and social media. The suitcase size is based on the Rimowa Essential model but does not contain an interior lining. Instead, the suitcase features the flex-divider system in black and customized bags to make packing easier.
Set to debut on June 20, during Off-White's men's fashion show during Paris Fashion Week Men, the Rimowa x Off-White case will launch in selection Rimowa and Off-White stores and online on June 25. The Rimowa x Off-White case will also launch in selected retailers, including Selfridges London. Prices for the case were not revealed.
