Jason Wu teams up with Tse

American designer Jason Wu is to design a capsule collection for Tse. Wu, who became the new fashion darling after dressing Michelle Obama, has teamed up with the cashmere label that will launch for Autumn Winter 2010.
Consisting of 15 looks, the partnership builds on a previously existing relationship between Wu and Tse - which has produced the designer's knitwear for the last two seasons.
"In many ways, I am probably the least expected designer to do this, because Tse's aesthetic is so different for my own, but that's one reason I wanted to do it," said Wu.
"Jason's complete understanding of this timeless luxury and craftsmanship, which is in the Tse DNA, rendered him the perfect partner," Christina Peng-Gerschultz, Tse's chief executive officer, tells WWD.
Previous designers to have worked their magic for Tse have included Tess Giberson, Narciso Rodriguez, Victor Alfaro, Hussein Chalayan and Richard Chai - though Wu will not act as head designer, working on just this one collection, though there are hopes he might do more.
The collection will launch next July and be sold through Tse boutiques, tsecashmere.com and select stores.
