John Galliano will join forces with Diesel to design a children collection. For the upcoming five year Diesel SpA will work together with Jardins d'Arvron SA, the company which looks after John Galliano's production and distribution.The name of the new kids collection is not known as yet, but will be presented to the fashion industry in January. Consumer can expect the children range to hit the stores early 2008. "Premium brands are doing unbelievably well at the moment, which has its effect on the childrenswear market", says Diesel Director Renzo Rosso in fashion trade publication WWD. "Galliano creates fairytales for adults, you can only imagine what he can do for children."

John Galliano established its name as the bound braking designer for Dior,and at the moment he's expanding his own brand in various ways. This Spring he launched 'Galliano', a sporty range for women, in conjunction with IT Holding SpA. In March he signed a licence for his own fragrance, which will be launched in Autumn of next year. For the future more licences are expected with leather goods, glasses, jewellery, interior and shoes for men and children.

The new kids range is aimed at boys and girls between 4 and 14 year old. Galliano will design the collection and Diesel will look after the production and distribution. So far no profit prospects have been announced, but the focus point will be to launch 350 stockists in Italy, France, United Kingdom, Russia, US, Japan and Eastern Europe. They are looking to expand the distribution with 550 stockists across the world.

Diesel also has a profit making childrenswear range, which makes annually about £45 million.
