London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London has announced the launch of the Fashion Business School, a pioneering centre for fashion business and management research, teaching and learning, which it claims will bring together the College’s existing business, management and enterprise functions together, to offer students and industry an unparalleled fashion business offering.
The launch of the Fashion Business School is in response to the recognition that the link between fashion, business and education has never been more important to the UK and its creative economy, with the British Fashion Council stating that fashion’s contribution to the UK economy is worth 26 billion pounds and recent UK government policy statements claiming that economic growth is reliant on universities, and in particular Business Schools, engaging with micro, small and medium enterprises.
The Fashion Business School will house both full and part-time courses in a range of disciplines relating to fashion business. The undergraduate offer will include BA (Hons) Fashion Business, Fashion Buying and Merchandising, Fashion Management, Fashion Marketing and Fashion Visual Merchandising and Branding. Postgraduate study will include MA Fashion Design Management, Fashion Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Fashion Retail Management, Strategic Fashion Marketing and the newly launched MA Fashion Enterprise Creation as well as the world’s first Executive MBA (Fashion) which launched in 2013.
Professor Frances Corner OBE, head of London College of Fashion and pro vice chancellor of UAL said: “By launching the Fashion Business School at London College of Fashion we can contribute to the development of the UK business schools and be a leading player in the global business school market.
“Our unique focus across the fashion industry sets us apart and means we can push boundaries across creative management research and practice.”
