LFW: Vauxhall Fashion Scout

One of London's main platforms for emerging fashion talent, Vauxhall Fashion Scout is presenting 20 shows over six days this London Fashion Week. It is the car company's largest sponsored fashion presentation to date. On Sunday, the showcase started with Spijkers en Spijkers. The Dutch design duo took over the catwalk with their contemporary feminism embodying the 60s housewife ideal. The two sisters are known for their intellectual approach towards fashion, which was translated in classic flounces taking new futuristic twists. Manipulated thick organza layers remained semi-transparent, shades of pastel became metallic, and feminine fabrics were stiff and electrifying at the same time.
Another label that caught our eye was Theatre de la Mode (TDLM). The arty fashion label is debuting this season with the non-catwalk installation ‘Undertone’. Challenging the conventional status quo, TDLM presented its designs via a short film art directed by its founders Chris Kelly and Sara Flamm. The black and white animation was a brilliant break away from the standard runway show. For those who missed Undertone, we hear that DazedDigital.com will feature the film next week.
Vauxhall Fashion Scout is taking place until Friday 19th September and is located next to the LFW tents in South Kensington. Other designers to watch are Avsh Alom Gur and Jojo&Malou.
