London most Tweeted about travel destination

London has been praised as the most talked about travel destination on Twitter, as the words 'London' and 'travel' were tweeted together more than 630,000 times in 2015.

This is 200,000 times more than the next popular cities were mentioned, which include Paris, New York, Rome and Tokyo, according to data from London and Partners, the Mayor of London's promotional company and Spredfast.

The word 'London' alone was tweeted more than 81 million times in 2015 and some of the works which were commonly mentioned on Twitter in association with London were 'fashion', 'art' and 'travel'. In addition, separate research has shown London to be the most Googled capital city since 2004 and the most 'selfie' location in the world, with over 40 percent of the images from London on Instagram being a selfie.
