Lucy & Yak introduces buyback scheme

Conscious clothing brand Lucy & Yak has launched a new buyback scheme, offering consumers money off future purchases, as it looks to keep clothes in circulation for longer.
The ‘Re:Yak BuyBack’ scheme will allow customers to return, recirculate and recycle their old Lucy & Yak products in any store, including its newly-announced Nottingham and recently opened Norwich stores.
In exchange for the pre-loved pieces, Lucy & Yak will offer vouchers up to 20 pounds off future purchases to spend online or in-store. The buyback items will then be resold, or, if too damaged to resell, will be recycled so that they don’t end up in landfill.
This is the latest initiative from the brand to be as circular as possible, joining its regular (Im)perfect Yaks Sale and Re:Yak Marketplace Facebook group, as well as hosting upcycling and repair workshops in its stores.
Lucy Greenwood, co-founder of Lucy & Yak, said in a statement: “We’re always looking for new ways to be circular and ensure that our items are kept in use for as long as possible; we believe that brands should take responsibility for the lifecycle of their pieces even after they have been bought.
“We’re excited to be able to offer an easy way to give pre-loved Yaks a new life, or support customers to recycle them once they can’t be enjoyed anymore. Joining a talented network of Re:Yakkers who are already inspiring our customers to help their pieces live on for longer, our Buyback scheme brings the same ethos to our stores as the hub of our Lucy & Yak community.”
