Atea Oceanie has become known for their minimalistic 90s style with a sporty flare. On the other hand, Leandra Medine, the founder of Man Repeller, is known for her maximalist style. While the brand and the fashion website founder are opposite sides of the same stylish coin, they couldn't possibly be more different. However, it was these differences that made Atea Oceanie designer Laura Myers intrigued to work with Medine in the first place.

This is the first collaboration of its kinds for the brand. Myers first met Medine in 2014 after they were introduced by a publicist, and Medine saw the 2014 lookbook.

"She started wearing the pieces, particularly one of the blazers, and I was just really inspired seeing [them] worn in such a different way, different to how I myself would put it together," said Myers to Fashionista.com. "But I really felt like it was getting to the spirit of the brand, this idea of women mixing back into their own wardrobe in a way that makes them feel great. It just seemed like a natural next step to reach out and start thinking about doing something together."

Myers is a favorite of celebrities like Elizabeth Olson, but despite that, she has taken a very slow and cautious approach to growing her label. Myers thought Medine would be an excellent person to collaborate with and help grow the brand due to her partnerships with top retailers like Barneys New York, The Line, and Ssense.

Myers is also hoping that Medine will really help them pick up some U.S. press. The brand is based in London, and while she has had some great press there, a major force in fashion like Medine could easily get more people in the U.S. talking about her brand.

The collaboration has been in the works for about a year now. In 2015, Myers and Medine started working on silhouettes they wanted to use such as a navy suit, a bright red Mandarin collar shirt, and a striped slip dress.

The seven-piece collection they ended up with is available only on the British e-commerce site Boutique 1 and through Atea Oceanie's own site. Price points for the collection range from 270 dollars for the red Mandarin collar shirt to 650 dollars for the Hepburn blazer.
