Maria Callas tribute

Italian fashion label Moschino will celebrate infamous Maria Callas by designing a gown inspired by the stylish soprano. On December 5th, Milan will open a tribute exhibition to Maria Callas at the Contemporary History Museum. Organised by Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, the exhibition will put the American-born Greek opera singer back in the spot light.
Moschino’s Creative Director Rossella Jardini is very passionate about the opera diva: “I’m fascinated by that ‘special allure’ that only Maria Callas had. I love everything about her, her voice, her face, her style. I was turning over the pages of one of my books about her and I’ve been charmed from a picture shot during a performance in Philadelphia, in January 24th 1959. The draped corset she was wearing caught my attention and I reinterpreted it designing a red silk long eveningwear gown”.
The exhibition will run next year from 6-20th December 2008.
