Global beauty company Avon and Marimekko are joining forces, which has licensed its floral ‘Unikko’ motif. The print will be exclusive to a limited-edition cosmetics collection of Avon. The Marimekko for Avon Colour Collection will launch globally in autumn 2008. The beauty collection unites Marimekko’s signature design with Avon’s innovative colour formula. Each piece in the range features Marimekko’s 'Unikko' pattern designed by Maija Isola in 1964. Her daughter Kristina Isola re-interpreted the design with fresh colouring for Avon.
The licensing cooperation with Avon is Marimekko's first foray into the world of beauty.
