Marni has signed a licensing deal with Staff International, the manufacturing arm of OTB, which acquired a majority stake in the luxury brand in 2012. The deal means that Staff International now has the exclusive worldwide rights for the development, production and distribution of all Marni men's product categories, including ready-to-wear, footwear, bags, small leather goods and accessories.
“We strongly believe in the potential of our men’s line which has been well appreciated in the next few seasons,” said Marni group chief executive officer Gianni Castiglioni. “In order to boost our expansion and reach ambitious goals, we decided to team up with a dynamic and modern partner, which is part of the OTB family.”
Prior to this deal its menswear had been produced in-house, but the move follows its agreement earlier this year for its kidswear line with Brave Kid, the OTB-owned company specialising in children’s clothing.
The first menswear collection to be made through the deal will be the spring/summer 2016.
Staff International also produces and distributes many international brands under license, including the OTB-owned MM6 Maison Margiela, as well as Dsquared2, Vivienne Westwood, Marc Jacobs Men and Just Cavalli.
