Emilio Pucci, the iconic Florentine label , has announced the appointment of Norwegian designer Peter Dundas to the position of Artistic Director beginning October 1st 2008. Peter Dundas, who previously designed at Emanuel Ungaro, is one of the most promising designers of his generation, thought to fit with Pucci’s spirit and with its colourful and modern identity.

Dundas replaces British designer Matthew Williamson, who has been with the house for three years. The reason for his exit has not been formally announced.

Based in Florence, Peter Dundas will concentrate on the development of a complete universe of ready-to-wear and accessories in order to continue the rapidly expanding dynamics of the brand which today operates 47 stores across the world.

A graduate of the Parsons School of Design, Peter collaborated with the Comédie Française before becoming a Designer for Jean-Paul Gaultier in 1992. He joined Christian Lacroix in the same position in 2000, then Roberto Cavalli in 2002 as Chief Designer until 2005. He was then Artistic Director for Emanuel Ungaro until 2007. He is currently collaborating with Revillon on a collection of furs.

Created in 1947 as a ski-wear brand, Pucci gained worldwide prominence in the 1960s and is still known for its sixties-influenced, swirling-patterned fabrics in eye-popping colors. Pucci joined the LVMH group in 2000.
