Whilst the majority of data indicates that this year's holiday shopping spree Black Friday will lead to all time high record in consumer expenditure, this could spell disaster for some UK consumers Christmas shopping budget.
With close to one in ten UK consumers fearing they will spend more than they can afford on Black Friday this year, which falls on November 27, UK retailers are very likely to lose out when unwarranted returns come pouring in, according to Retail service Conlumino. Concern in regards to Black Friday over expenditure increases among younger consumers, with nearly a fifth of shoppers aged 18 to 34 fearing they will spend more than they can afford on the discount day this year.
"The fact that nearly one in ten consumers fears they will spend more than they can afford on Black Friday suggests the more serious side to this type of shopping event, with cut-price promotions still tempting to consumers that may still be finding disposable incomes squeezed," commented Greg Bromley, Retail Analyst at Conlumino.
