British retail giant Marks & Spencer this week announced plans for a new "smart-casual" range aimed at men over the age of 35 who find it difficult to keep up with the latest fashions.

The new range will be called SP and is about to be in stores this coming September. M&S director of product design, Jeremy Armstrong, told trade magazine Drapers Record the collection is aimed at men who "were lads but are now dads".

The magazine said SP is going to have have an English look as opposed to the Gap-style clothing in its Blue Harbour range.

A spokeswoman confirmed the range will debut at a menswear fashion show in May, and revealed certain elements of the new line are being tested in its flagship Marble Arch store in London.
