Like in January, the upcoming BREAD & BUTTER BARCELONA starts with an opening reception on the eve of the first day of the tradeshow. The community celebrates its get-together at 08:00 p.m with BBQ, drinks and DJs. At 10:00 p.m., there will be an impressive open-air kick-off: film and light installations will set the Luna Park in an overwhelming scene, and a live act will take care of the musical entertainment!

B&B STUDIOS
Support the young generation at BREAD & BUTTER!

With B&B Studios, the tradeshow for selected brands provides a creative platform for up-and-coming labels and designers of their culture. Current collections are presented and international ties are established here, making entry into the industry all the more easier.

New Concept!
For a change, the 35 participating young labels will no longer be separated in their own area but will be integrated into the appropriate B&B area. According to their philosophy and style, they will have their own section within the Urban Superior, Fashion Now or Sport & Street area. This new positioning facilitates the
exchange of experiences and ideas: the newcomers profit from established, successful brands and their networks. For professional guests, B&B Studios present a diverse repertoire of new collections.

B&B DESIGN
Also, B&B Design continues to support the new generation of designers. As a unique international platform, it brings together promising talents and key players of the industry, and supports the young designers through the strong economic and creative structure of BREAD & BUTTER. This season, B&B Design presents the B&B Design Exhibition and B&B Design Graduation Tour, followed by the Young Talent Prize Award.

B&B DESIGN EXHIBITION
Graduating designs fresh from the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts – Walter Van Beirendonck at BBBarcelona This special exhibition showcases the work of graduates from the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts, one of the top schools worldwide in fashion design. The B&B Design Exhibition is an initiative intended to celebrate the work of the academy’s final year students through enabling them to display their design projects in an exceptional setting. Each participant offers a selection of their best graduation pieces to be displayed on a special platform. The exhibition takes place at THE SOURCE (in hall 7), the trade fair for the primary stage of the fashion textile industry, focusing on a range of industries in this field including fabric producers, specialist laundries and dyeing houses. The designs are enriched with distinctive light installations which enhance each of these fresh proposals to create an innovative showcase that pays homage to the striking originality and imagination inherent in each look. Walter Van Beirendonck, a major player in the Belgian design scene, one of the Antwerp Six and a
former graduate of the school, will also be at BBBarcelona July 2008.

B&B DESIGN GRADUATION TOUR
45 looks designed by 45 graduates in 45 key locations
Conceived as an essential international springboard for young and aspiring creators, the B&B Design Graduation Tour brings together the freshest and most promising proposals from 9 local fashion and design schools. 45 candidates, 5 from each of the participating schools, select one of their graduation pieces to
showcase in a range of locations across Barcelona. The B&B Design Graduation Tour takes place in 45 locations, including multi-label shops, lifestyle stores,
hotels and restaurants, with each location featuring a mannequin displaying one look by the participating designers. Additionally, one look by one student of each of the 9 participating schools will be displayed in THE SOURCE in hall 6. The looks will be shown between 2.–6. July 2008. B&B Design is aimed at promoting young talents through enabling them to benefit from the global scope and prestigious positioning of BREAD & BUTTER on the world fashion stage.

BREAD & BUTTER FETISH FOR CHARITY Suports ne w Pro ject
The charity project of BREAD & BUTTER awakens and strengthens social awareness: „do not watch, but act“ is the motto. Since 2004, different brands and labels design limited clothing for each “tradeshow for selected brands” as well as the outfits of the B&B hostesses. These are sold over the B&B FETISH FOR CHARITY
shop at BBBarcelona and over the B&B Webshop for a good cause. This season, the B&B FETISH supports a new project: Masomo e.V. – an association of schooling advancement for orphans.
The Masomo e.V. is founder of the Starehe Nursery School in Mwanza, Tanzania, a pre-school with integrated kindergarten, offering education to all children and later the visit of the international Isamilo School. “Masomo” means education in Swahili, the language of East Africa, which is also the goal of the association.
B&B FETISH FOR CHARITY supports the Masomo project since the very beginning – as good educationmeans the chance for a better life. For more details on the project Masomo please visit www.masomo.org.

THE PAVILION
“Fashion wasn’t what you wore someplace anymore, it was the whole reason for going.” – Andy Warhol
With The Pavilion, BREAD & BUTTER is once again offering brands with an artistic affinity a special setting for a remarkable performance. The venue is the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion which will once again showcase a real highlight: The Andy Warhol Collection by Pepe Jeans London for Spring/Summer 2009 – a fashion line
for men and women that made a huge impact last season. As one of the most outstanding artists of the 20th century, Andy Warhol challenged the world to see art through different eyes. Pepe Jeans London now builds on this cultural legacy with a collection inspired by Warhol’s original works of art that is perfectly targeted at buyers who are looking for something extraordinary.

FASHION SHOWS
The upcoming BREAD & BUTTER BARCELONA yet again holds a series of fashion shows ready: BREAD & BUTTER-regular G-Star presents its upcoming spring / summer collection traditionally in the G-Star tent at Luna Park. Furthermore, Ed Hardy presents his tattoo vintage wear on the first floor of the Urban Superior Area as usual. Both fashion shows take place several times a day on all three tradeshow days. The Spanish label Desigual is doing a show for the first time. They invite to their booth at the Fashion Gallery in Fashion Now three times daily on 2.+3.July.

GRAND RESTAURANT
Awarded with the “FIZZZ Award”, PAN ASIA is one of the most successful catering temples in Berlin. For BREAD & BUTTER, the cult Asian, specialities and mix of different Asian cuisines, comes directly to Barcelona into the B&B Grand Restaurant (Hall 5, Level 1; above the Sportswear Area). Like at PAN ASIA, the Grand Restaurant combines design and food in an aesthetic and culinary delight. All guests can not only look forward to the finest food, but also to video installations and projections that are harmoniously integrated into the gastronomy experience, both merging into a sophisticated unit. The Grand Restaurant is also open after the tradeshow hours, offering a stylish dinner directly on the site.

LUNA PARK – LIVE MUSIC
