This December will see the launch of new luxury designer brand GeeGee will be available. The high-end brand is set up by fashion entrepreneur Rebecca Agouropoulos, who established the company in response to the need for garments for the Generation X female. Every single piece is made in England.
GeeGee is looking to be the answer to the urban zeitgeist with a glorious twist.. The collections, influenced by country themes and being on trend, comprise desirable pieces for the mid-luxury market. The collection has traditional soft British tailoring in high quality fabrics with key looks including jackets, gillets, softly-tailored shirts and cord ‘jodphur-style’ and stretch leather leggings.
Agouropoulo is currently working with her designers to create the AW10 collection and she is determined to support British manufacturing. After months researching British manufacturing, she says: “The big difference between what can be done in factories in this country and what is often to be seen in the products made abroad is the level of quality. This comes about for at least two reasons – the standards of workmanship that are achieved regularly are just higher in the UK and when the guys working on the shop floor are just around the corner, it is so much easier to fine tune your manufacturing requirements.”
Rebecca was awarded Fashion Exporter of the Year 2008/9, UK Fashion Export Awards. The GeeGee AW10 collection will be available to stockists from December 2009 and the collection will be showcased at Pure tradeshow in February 2010.
