New York Fashion Week: Tibi

Designer Amy Smilovic for Tibi referenced the Seventies for her Fall 2008 collection, which she showed at the Salon at Bryant Park. Playful silhouettes of the house's best selling dresses graced the runway that no doubt pleased the stores and buyers. A plaid trouser was casually mixed with a cowl neck blouse and merino poloneck, Elsewhere a plaid cape was worn over a minidress and leggings. Prints such as a paisley boho print and falling diamonds, as seen on a blouse, were signature Tibi.
For evening, a gold lame blouse worn tucked into a high-waisted wool pant was brilliantly executed and downtown-chic. A series of stunning gowns available for Holiday 08 including a beautiful plum halter dress will surely have waiting lists from Barneys to Harvey Nichols.
What the show lacked in direction and novelty was a series of well- designed pieces that will sell, sell, sell.
