Footwear and accessories designer Nicholas Kirkwood is launching a series of creative partnerships at its flagship London boutique to place a spotlight on emerging creatives across a range of design disciplines including jewellery, art, literature and floristry.

The ‘Nicholas Kirkwood Presents’ series will see the label’s flagship on Mount Street in Mayfair transformed to host takeovers and curated pop-ups by artists, designers, and even florists, as the brand looks to introduce like-minded brands to its clientele.

The initiative began with an installation by artist Haroon Mirza, featuring a piece called “Orion and the Water Giver,” that was taken from Kirkwood’s personal collection, and next up is New York-based jewellery designer Eva Fehren, whose residency will run until the new year. The partnership marks Fehren’s first foray into the UK retail market.

Fehren, a CFDA nominee is best known for her minimalist fine jewellery that draws inspiration from New York City’s geometric urban patterns and architectural elements, which complements Kirkwood’s love of graphic, architectural shapes.

Following Fehren will be Australian florist Simone Gooch of Fjura, who has created floral displays for Hermès and Chanel. Gooch will take up residency in January to celebrate Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year, with further partnerships to follow throughout 2018.

“It was quite an organic process in terms of the initial collaborators,” Kirkwood told WWD. “I thought Eva’s approach to design and her use of geometric shapes and architectural details really spoke to my own design codes. Additionally, we have been working with Simon Gooch of Fjura for our store and showroom for a little while now and thought it was the perfect partnership to celebrate Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year.”

The project follows the recent refurbishment of the boutique, where Kirkwood collaborated with set designer Robert Storey.
