Nike to debut Epic React Flyknit

Nike is continuing on with the cushioned running shoe trend with a shoe that they are promoting as lighter, softer and longer-lasting than previous cushioned models. Called the Epic React Flyknit, Nike spent over three years developing the model.

The shoe comes in a bootie shape with a soft knit breathable upper that stretches and supports where needed. A foam heel clip secures the rear of the foot to enhance stability, while the midsole is lightweight and durable.

The Nike React Foam cushioning launched in 2017 as a basketball shoe. The new running shoe will debut on February 22 at a price point of 150 dollars.

While Nike still boasts itself as the world's largest supplier and manufacturer of athletic shoes with revenues totaling 34 billion dollars, they have been facing tough competition from competitors like Puma which reached over 3 billion dollars in sales in 2016. Nike has continued to rely on new product releases to compete in the footwear market, which is so far proving effective enough for them to remain on top.
