NYFW: Matthew Williamson

After a hiatus of one season in London to celebrate his 10 year anniversary and accompanying exhibition, Williamson returned to New York showing his Autumn Winter 2008 collection at the Lux Studios in the Meatpacker's off 18th Street. Williamson wowed his audience from the first look sent down the runway - a metallic parka worn over an exquisite rose printed silk georgette dress.
In fact the outerwear stole the show. Williamson, who is predominantly known for his colourful prints and gowns, made the parka a key item for next season. Seen in metallic bronze, gunmetal grey, or in waxed form, parka's were worn over dresses, quilted skirts and cashmere, dressing down an otherwise glamorous collection.
Williamson's chunky knitwear, such as cashmere polos and cardigans mixed with prints such as a purple haze dress and computerised floral motifs. Fur trims and on parks and coats will surely please his American and Russian clients as would the beaded sil georgette column dress.
