Dublin born fashion designer Orla Kiely, took home the accolade for Exporter of the Year in the UK. Orla Kiely was nominated by the UKFE (United Kingdom Fashion Export) for The Exporter of the Year Gold Award. With eye for functionality, bold graphic design and pattern, Orla Kiely has made her mark on the fashion landscape. Her business has expanded over the past decade and now includes womenswear, accessories and travel. Kiely is looking to launch a homewear range in the near future.

The UKFE is a group devoted to increasing the profitability and business acumen of all its members throughout the UK. They focus on creating solid connections with international traders, helping to secure them both increased profitability and a greater global presence. The UKFE is an independent association that is only supported from finances generated internally by its members, which comprise a variety of big British names. These include John Smedley and Orla Kiely. All have established a global presence with the help of the UKFE.

The UKFE Awards are designed to reward companies, which have demonstrated remarkable capability in establishing export links with other countries. Previous winners have shown ability as international traders, becoming leaders in the field and helping to boost the UK’s export reputation of quality fashion products.

Dermott Rowan, managing director of Kiely Rowan Plc commented: “To be awarded the prestigious gold award by the UK Fashion Export is a testament to our commitment and success in building a great British Brand within the past decade”. Orla Kiely was delighted and said: “It is an amazing honour to be recognised by this award. I have really enjoyed the past ten years and look forward to launching further new and exciting projects later this year.”
