Pringle's Highland Fling

Pringle had fun describing in their program a Highland fling - a twosome in her ancestral castle with luxurious cashmere rolling over the four-poster bed. What came down the runway was a less witty take on the brand's Scottish heritage: tweed knickers; the signature diamond print for long scarves, while a fox stole was printed on a T-shirt shoulder.

Pringle is creating new products, such as giant suede bags, colorful enough to keep a stag at bay. But the designer Stuart Stockdale is not pushing fashion forward with his dresses in lacy knit or in chiffon with icing sugar ruffles. The show was summed up by the fur elbow patches dyed to match cashmere knits. Take them off and what do you get? Just a familiar sweater.
