Knitwear business Pure Handknit and lifestyle clothing company Neon Buddha achieved healthy sales increase in 2008 and will expand globally. Last year’s sales exceeded 2007 numbers by 10% for Pure Handknit and more than 60% for Neon Buddha. Growth has come from sales in more than 2,000 independent boutiques as well as retailers like Nordstrom, the Neiman Marcus catalogue and fine regional chains like Von Maur.
After ten years of continued growth, Pure and Co is cautiously optimistic about the future of the brands. “We are pleased that our customers see us as partners during these tough times and are proud that they are continuing to show strong sell through,” says Shannon Cooney, co-owner and designer of the Canadian brands.
Neon Buddha was created with the concept of producing a lifestyle clothing collection for travel, ‘home, work, yoga and you’. Their ethical work standards, fair trade practices and social responsibility are fundamental and at their strategy. Pure Handknit was launched in 1998, and its unique hand made knits are designed in Canada.
Last February, the two cohesive brands launched at the Prêt a Porter in Paris, then moved on to Pure London as well as Moda, Birmingham in addition to regional penetration.
