Thursday will see the launch of the RE:Fashion Awards, the world's first dedicated awards for ethical fashion. Taking place in the Shoreditch Town Hall, RE:Fashion is set to transform social and environmental standards in the fashion industry within a decade, and already hailed a brand new fashion phenomenon. The event will see industry majors such as Vivienne Westwood and Katharine Hamnett come together to recognise the most significant development in the fashion industry of the 21st century.

Ethical fashion has become increasingly significant and high street retailers, workers co-operatives and young designers are out taking an interest in production and manufacturing conditions and all processes of the fashion lifecycle, making certain their product is as sustainable as possible.

Twelve award categories cover key areas of the fashion industry - with top marks for innovation, cutting-edge design, and driving positive social and environmental progress within the industry.

Just like fashion, the term means different things to different people, from vintage clothing to paying a fair wage to cotton farmers.

In essence, ethical fashion represents an approach to the design, sourcing and manufacture of clothing which is both socially and environmentally sustainable. The grand finale to the night will be the Iconic Catwalk where one-off designs created especially for RE:Fashion will be unveiled. They will be modeled by celebutantes included Daisy Lowe, Pixie Geldof, Leah Wood, Leah Weller and Portia Freeman.

Designers creating for the RE:Fashion catwalk include Vivienne Westwood, Zandra Rhodes, Preen, Bora Aksu, Allegra Hicks, Todd Lynn, Aimee McWilliams, Jonathan Saunders and more.
