Retail Trust has received a big boost to its Education Programme for the retail industry, with the transfer of assets from the George Spencer Memorial Fund, following its closure.

On presenting the cheque for £30,000, the George Spencer Memorial Fund Trust Chairman, Len Rosenfield, said: "After extensive research by our trustees, we are delighted to have chosen Retail Trust as a suitable successor to carry on the good work of the Fund."

Nigel J L Rothband, Chief Executive of Retail Trust, was equally delighted to accept such a wonderful sum, saying: "As the national retail charity, Retail Trust has long recognised the need for increased education and training opportunities for people working in retail. We will put these funds to good use providing educational bursaries to support people in achieving their potential in their retail career."

Individuals with two years' service in retail can apply for a Retail Trust Education Bursary up to a maximum of £1,000 for study to gain a retail qualification, from an NVQ to an MBA.
