Elle Style Awards closed London Fashion Week last night with a star-studded evening in association with H&M at the Tate Britain.
Roksanda, who impressed editors earlier this week with her debut collection of handbags, scooped the coveted British Designer of the Year award, an accolade that has been previously been won by Christopher Kane and Jonathan Saunders.
The designer took Instagram to thank Elle for the award, which she called a “wonderful honour”.
The awards, which recognise the contribution of the world’s most inspiring fashion insiders and brightest fashion talent, also named Stella McCartney as British Brand of the Year. Previously the British designer has been crowned International Designer of the Year in 2013 and was named Elle Style Icon in 2002.
While the Outstanding Contribution of Fashion was awarded to former Lanvin creative director Alber Elbaz, and Chloé’s creative director Clare Waight Keller was named Editor’s Choice of the Year.
The final fashion award, Accessories Designer of the Year, was won by Anya Hindmarch, the British designer has impressed editors in recent years with her luxury-with-a-sense-of-humour handbags. During London Fashion Week the designer showcased her autumn/winter 2016 Talk Nerdy to Me’ collection inspired by Pac-Man, Space Invaders and Tetris.
Other winners included model Jourdan Dunn scooping Style Influencer of the Year, Lucky Blue Smith won Male Model of the Year, supermodel Alek Wek was awarded with the H&M Conscious Award, and Karlie Kloss was awarded with the Inspiring Women of the Year accolade.
