London-based artist and designer Zakee Shariff is collaborating with lifestyle fashion brand Roxy Heart. The spirit of the ‘Roxy by Zakee Shariff’ collection is based around the lyrics of ‘Fly Like and Eagle’ by the Steve Miller Band. The four elements of nature, together with music have been the inspiration for the artwork of the Roxy’s new range due to launch in August 2009.

“Ultimately the song evokes an essence of what I feel represents myself and how I feel the world needs to change. The collection talks about my love of nature, and of doing right in the world. I like the feeling of freedom that it gives me which together with helping the world is an on going theme of mine and that is what I have tried to bring to the prints and garments," comments Zakee Shariff.

As a design partnership, Roxy Heart designer Valérie Thévenot and artist Zakee Shariff developed a collection of fluid and relaxed separates, footwear and denim. Zakee’s used of vibrant colours and prints plus extravagant graphic embroidery appealing to strong and individual girls. The Roxy Heart campaign was a collaboration by the photographer Benjamin Alexander Huseby and art director Emma Powell, bringing this poetic and romantic collection to life.

Roxy Heart is a lifestyle brand built from a deep-rooted heritage in surf and snow culture. Every season the brand partners with a like-minded, fashion designer, artist or musician and co-design the collection with Valérie Thévenot. Ideas, concepts, designs, and fabrics are tested and brought to market within this collection and are later filtered into the Roxy Life assortment in future seasons.
