Savile Row Company is the latest brand to join the war on plastic as it announces the introduction of 100 percent recyclable and compostable packaging for its shirts.

The independent men’s tailoring brand is now using 100 percent compostable bags made from potato starch, as well as 100 percent recyclable paper bags for online orders in a bid to reduce the company’s carbon footprint.

“We invested in fully recyclable and compostable packaging because we care about our impact on the planet,” Jeffrey Doltis, owner and managing director of Savile Row Company said in a statement.

“We also know that our customers feel strongly about reducing their carbon footprint. It is our aim to eradicate single use plastic across the company, from our offices, to our production warehouses to what our customers receive."

Supermarket giants Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Aldi, Lidl, Waitrose and Tesco have all signed up to last year’s industry-wide UK Plastics Pact initiative which aims to make all plastic packaging recyclable, recycled or biodegradable by 2025.
