Scottish knitwear company signs Peek & Cloppenburg

Scottish knitwear firm Peter Scott & Co agreed a multi-million pound contract with German fashion retailer Peek & Cloppenburg. The Hawick based manufacturer joined forces with the German company who has paid to put the Peter Scott branding on its clothing, ranging from underwear to shoes, ties and suits.
With over 140 department stores throughout Europe, Peter Scott is hoping that the partnership with Peek & Cloppenburg will help raise the company’s turnover into £100 million in the next five years and safeguard their workforce.
Managing Director, Ken Pasternak, said of the news “I have no doubt that we will become the biggest knitwear brand in Scotland.” He added “There hasn’t been a deal of more significance for this mill since we secured the contract to provide British Army with underwear in 1914.”
Peek & Cloppenburg was founded in Holland in 1863 and moved to Germany in 1900. The company has over 20,000 employees and it is described as a cross between John Lewis and Harrods.
