Co-initiator Philip Hess is very enthusiastic about the expansion: "The VS was on our wish list from the beginning, because every year Americans buy umbrella's for about 300 million dollars".
Initially, the wind proof umbrella was almost sold to fashion company Mexx, but the inventors decided to continue under their own brand name instead. The Senz umbrella will be introduced in the VS under the same brand name. Hess: "Totes positions our wind umbrella as a premium product, which gives us access to the most high-end departments stores such as Bloomingdales, Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus.
Besides the Netherlands and the US, other countries like Canada, France and Great Britain have shown interest in the unique umbrella. The main umbrella suppliers in Asia have also approached Senz.
