SheIn to support graduate talent at GFW

Graduate Fashion Week has announced that SheIn, one of the world’s largest online fashion retailers, will sponsor the People’s Choice Award for the first time ever at this year’s event in June.

The People’s Choice Award allows the public to have their say on their favourite designer from the final top 25 graduate fashion week collections. Each of the 25 finalists and their collections will feature on SheIn’s website, where the public can vote on their favourite until the end of June.

The winner of The People’s Choice Award will be announced on July 1 and the winning graduate will have the opportunity to showcase their collection at the Graduate Fashion Week Houses of Parliament reception this autumn. In addition, the winner will get the chance to exhibit at London Fashion Week this September and SheIn will produce a capsule collection of their winning designs to be sold on their online store.

SheIn will also be present at the four-day Graduate Fashion Week event with a stand in the exhibition space, which will showcase the brand’s fashion collections, as well as allow SheIn representatives to meet with students and receive CV’s and portfolios on the day, as the online retailer will be interviewing applicants for a ‘Design Intern’ position.

The chosen candidate will receive a paid six-week placement at the SheIn’s UK head offices, giving them the chance to design a capsule collection and take a visit to China to see their collection in production before it goes on sale online.

Not only are they offering a fantastic internship opportunity, they are offering one design student the chance to create their own capsule collection, which gives the student a great step up into the world of work from education,” said Martyn Roberts, managing and creative director at Graduate Fashion Week in a statement. “This is one of our primary aims here at Graduate Fashion Week and so we’re thrilled that Shein are partnering with us on this.”

Gradaute Fashion Week is the world’s largest event for BA Fashion talent and will be taking place from June 2 to 5 at The Old Truman Brewery, Shoreditch, London. The annual event, held every June attracts 30,000 guests, features 25 catwalk shows and exhibition stands, alongside a schedule of talks and workshops from leading names in the fashion and retail industry.
