Shop Direct launches Very app

Multi-brand digital retailer Shop Direct has launched its first transactional shopping app for its Very brand, aim at offering its customers an “easier, more engaging user experience”.

The iPhone app uses image recognition technology to allow customers to take snaps of clothes they like and search for similar patterns, colours and items across Very.co.uk’s product range, as well as offering smoother and faster navigation of the 946 brands currently sold on its website.

In addition, the app has also been optimised to enable customers to track their orders in just one tap, check their balance, and make payments on-the-go.

The app marks the e-tail group’s first transactional app and the start of an increased investment in apps to further boost Shop Direct’s mobile artillery, as mobile is now the group’s largest sales channel and accounted for 58 percent of online sales at Very.co.uk over Christmas.

Shop Direct e-commerce director Jonathan Wall said: “Mobile sales continue to grow at pace. Customers are shopping when they want, where they want and mobile is making this possible. A world class app is now a must-have.

“Our new Very.co.uk app will make our customers’ shopping experience smoother, slicker and speedier than ever before.”

Shop Direct has initially launched the app on iOS, as the iPhone platform accounts for more than 50 percent of the traffic to its websites, but plans to launch on Android version later this year.
