Suede trending in men's wear
loading...
New York - What has long been a symbol of class and luxury, suede is making a comeback, and this time in men's wear, which is having its moment in the spotlight this year. For proof that suede is one of the it materials of the moment look at the men's wear collections of Saint Laurent, Tom Ford, and Michael Bastian who all had suede coats for the spring season. The Nike SB Stefan Janoski is even making a come back, a sneaker famous for their brown suede upper.
A quick google search will also produce several articles such as "how to wear suede in spring/summer" and "suede promises a summer of lovely outfits." While many of these articles are directed towards women, it becomes obvious how suede is here to stay this year, and it's become a must-have for the 2015 wardrobe. The true champion of the return of suede would have to be Saint Laurent's Hedi Slimane.
He was the champion of the fringed suede jacket which he gave a neater more sleek European cut. From there it was all uphill, because all it takes is one great designer to do something for everyone else to follow. The U.S isn't the only one following suit on the suede trend either, the material is currently popular in collections in both London and Paris.
The traditional denim jacket that is used for that slightly cooler weather in spring, and perhaps just as a piece to elevate an outfit on those not too hot summer days has currently gone by the way side and has been replaced by the more luxurious suede. However long suede is here to stay is unclear, of course it will always be a material that will appear in collections for ages, but, now it is certainly having its moment. Arguably, it came as a result of an incredible year for men's wear and designers wanting to give men more posh offerings. Whatever the reason, it's good to be suede right now.
