On 16th and 17th July the first view exhibition of Texprint is taking place in London. Responsible for discovering some of the fashion industry’s creatives such as Zandra Rhodes and Alice Temperley, Texprint is one of the industry’s best creative get together. This year’s showcase commences with the Texprint First View at Chelsea College of Art & Design in July. The event promises to present the most gifted, who will be judged by a professional panel selecting six prizewinners.

Texprint supporter Harold Tillman, chairman British Fashion Council and Jaeger comments: “Texprint is a wonderful opportunity for the industry to discover the stars of the future and, in these uncertain times, original textile design and creative thinking is what will make a business stand out from the crowd.”

Texprint’s ethos is to celebrate and mentor the best new graduating talent, bringing them together to network and present their work to some of the most important names in the industry both in the UK and abroad. Twenty-four outstanding young graduates are selected by panels of professional designers from over 200 applicants nominated as the best by their colleges from nearly 1500 graduating each year.

"For us at Salvatore Ferragamo we want to check the UK for new creativity; we are looking for new talent, new ideas and new concepts. We need to find designers who are original and have drawing talent, to work with us on our scarf and tie collections, and Texprint is perfect for this." Signora Elena Alfani, Director of Accessories, Salvatore Ferragamo Italia SpA – new supporter for Texprint 2009.

Texprint was set up 37 years ago as an arm of the Design Council, to help British textile graduates start their careers. Today the event is supported by sponsors including Burberry, Marks & Spencer, Diane von Furstenberg, New Look and Como Unione Industriali, to name just a few.

After the talents’ exposure at First View in London, the designers are taken to Paris and given booths in Texprint at Indigo, part of the Paris Première Vision fabric fair in September.
