The Schedule

Monday 17th October - Friday 21st October 2016

The 10th Season Opening Party
Monday 17th October // 7pm The House //

Talk Cultural Appropriation
Tuesday 18th October // 7pm Oxford Castle Unlocked //

People from different cultures are trading and communicating more than ever, since the 1980’s when technology began spreading across the world. Mass media has also lead to the ‘creation of a snug network across the globe connecting all people and cultures from every corner of the world’ (Rabine 2002: 3). As a result of cultures being exposed to other traditions, they are being copied and used as inspiration in fashion and other industries.

This season at Oxford Fashion Week we are convening a panel of industry experts and opinionists to discuss and debate cultural appropriation, and the negatives and positives surrounding it.

Bloggers Party

Wednesday 19th October // 7pm The House //

Bloggers are transforming the industry and taking the front-row. Join us at The House where four selected bloggers will present their looks for the season across three different budgets. You'll see the looks, feel the garments and hear about the inspiration behind the style.

Taking place two days prior to our headlining runway shows this season you will have the Oxford Fashion Week team on hand to answer your questions. You may also get a sneak peek at some of the collections before they hit the runway on Friday. Bring your camera, bring your phone and be part of it.

Fashion Illustration Workshops

Thursday 20th October // 7pm & 8pm The Jam Factory //

Oxford Fashion Week features an exclusive fashion illustration workshop at The Jam Factory led by Helen Cauvy Foster. This is your opportunity to learn one of the fundamental first steps to bringing your fashion ideas and creative visions to life. Helen is a seasoned fashion illustrator and a resident artist at Magdalen Road Studios.

There are two one-hour workshops: 7pm & 8pm Each workshop is limited to just 14 spaces.
