From Hunter’s footwear collection for dogs to Selfridges’ naming an actor as its new chief executive, fashion brands and retailers have been embracing April Fools traditions today. Here is a selection of the best ones FashionUnited have spotted – were you fooled by any?

Wellington boot brand Hunter had us believing that they were actually launching a new footwear collection dogs, featuring waterproof boots specially designed to “meet the demands and needs of today’s canine.” The collection it states draws on its heritage, apparently the brand made waterproof boots for horses in the late 1800s. It was a nice touch to add that the collection was developed in collaboration with veterinary experts, and that the new boots would available in “matching styles for dog and owner in classic Hunter colours.”

Fashion retailer Ted Baker unveiled its innovative new adjustable heels, with a simple touch of an app the shoe’s heels can adjust from two to six inches in a matter of seconds. The technology took three years to create and all you will need to do is download the Adjustable Heels app and sync to your shoe via your smartphone’s Bluetooth connection. Interested? Well they are set to come in three colours – well actually probably not!

Hunter, Ted Baker and House of Fraser April Fools

Department store House of Fraser had everyone believing that they had bought a thoroughbred race horse and named it Horse of Fraser, see what they did there, and that the horse would be making its debut at the Grand National on April 11. To celebrate the race the retailer also announced the launch of an exclusive dressage collection, which sadly it has revealed was just them “horsing around”.

Other fashion April Fools included Selfridges naming Jeremy Piven, you know the actor who plays Mr Selfridge, as its new chief executive, while Browns founder Mrs B is set to launch her own book of selfies in the style of Kim Kardashian, and if reports are to be believed Swarovski are partnering with Aldi on a range of diamond-studded breakfast products. Asos also followed up its beard bleaching April Fools from last year with the clip-on man bun, so men can easily copy the look made famous by Jared Leto, Zayn Malik and Shia LaBeouf.
