Fashion trade fair organizer Igedo decided to discontinue bodylook despite its re-launch last July. On Monday the shareholders and management made the decision following intense exploratory discussions with the sector. It seemed to go all according to plan when the new edition of Bodylook attracted over 260 exhibitors and 5100 visitors from 24 countries. With the discontinuation the exhibition ends after seven years.

Initially Bodylook took place in Leipzig, but moved to Düsseldorf in February 2006 when Igedo Company took over the fair. Since then the exhibition took place twice a year and was hosted in conjunction with CPD, HMD and Global Fashion. Previously the winter edition planned for February 2009, but got cancelled due to a shortage of participants after which Igedo came with a new concept. The idea was to reorganise Bodylook and give the exhibition a new look with a different logo.

On the discontinuation Werner M. Dornscheidt, President and CEO of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, commented: “Since Bodylook moved from Leipzig we have invested substantial funds in the development of this event with the aim of responding to the sector’s requests. Ultimately, the market and its key players were not fully committed to Bodylook, the commitment we would have needed to continue planning. Without this commitment both the commercial and the strategic risks could no longer be justified.”
