Tony Blair is making a foray into fashion, and is to take up an advisory role with French luxury group Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy.

LVMH is controlled by France’s richest man, Bernard Arnault, who is a close ally of the former Prime Minister. Rather than following the footsteps of Madonna, the current face of the Louis Vuitton brand, Blair will be advising on LVMH winning new clients and territories.

A source close to Mr Blair has confirmed to the Telegraph that he in the final stages of negotiating a deal with LVMH, which he is expected to begin working for later this year.

According to Vogue.co.uk Sir Philip Green once suggested a role within his Fashion Retail Academy with Blair whilst he was Prime Minister in 2006 and Blair joked at the time, "You would have to start me right at the bottom. I am not known for my fashion sense. When I wore a particular brand of swimming trunks one year, the sales then collapsed."
