Arcadia Group owner Sir Philip Green has had his eyes set on the Big Apple for quite some time. In a cunning move, the British retail magnate is thought to be days away from signing up his first Topshop store in Manhattan, at 480 Broadway. The flagship store, in New York's SoHo district, would open in the summer of 2008 and be Green's first US outlet, other than his concession at Barney's. Green is thought to be looking for two further New York stores, and is scouting Midtown locations. A roll-out of Topshop to major cities across the US is likely to follow.Green's entry into the US follows the American success of Topshop's Kate Moss-designed range, which was sold through Barney's department stores. Arcadia's Evans chain could also be expanded into the US.
