British label Tourne de Transmission, which will be showcasing its fourth full ready-to-wear collection during London Fashion Week Men’s in January, has been announced as the latest emerging label to join River Island’s Design Forum.

River Island has previously collaborated with British menswear emerging talent Lou Dalton, Christopher Shannon, and YMC, and Tourne de Transmission will be the latest name to join the initiative.

Tourne de Transmission was founded in 2012 as an art and T-shirt platform, before launching a full ready-to-wear collection for spring/summer 2016. It is one of London’s menswear scene’s most notable new names, which has been gaining momentum for its Eastern-influenced streetwear designs masterminded by Graeme Gaughan.

The River Island Design Forum x Tourne de Transmission will consist of 14 pieces of ready-to-wear, footwear and accessories, inspired by Japanese clothing cultures old and new, featuring fabrics including lightweight natural cloths like linen, canvas, and cotton, as well as denim.

The collection fuses streetwear with Japanese design and includes kimono shapes and wide-leg trousers, as well as matching patchwork denim jacket and jeans, which have been inspired by the traditional Japanese Boro technique.

Commenting on the collaboration, Gaughan said: “We worked closely with River Island’s design team, first of all understanding what it was that attracted them to our aesthetic and then researching concepts together.

“From there we were able to deliver something new and exciting for the River Island man that not only stays true to the TDT brand, but appeals to River Island’s global audience.”

The collection will be presented with a short film during London Fashion Week Men’s in January, before hitting selected stores and online.
