For 2010 Europe’s biggest exhibition organisers and media partners will support the UK Fashion & Textile Export Awards 2010. Organised by UK Fashion Exports, the export division of the UK Fashion and Textile Association (UKFT), the 2010 UK categories have been selected to reflect the products that are in demand overseas and the sponsors’ prizes to assist winners develop their international trade.

The categories for 2010 include Accessories (Pure/Drapers), Contemporary Urban, a new category (The Brandery Barcelona), Designer Business ((Prêt à Porter Paris), Heritage (ITE MODA), High Octane Glamour (London24.com), Lingerie/beachwear (Salon de la Lingerie/Mode City), New Exporter (vogue.com), Small Business (UK Fashion and Textile Association) and Textiles (Première Vision). Headline sponsor HSBC Commercial Bank will present the Gold Award and Scottish Development International and wgsn.com also support the event.

Open to both budding and established companies, small exporters and giants of international trade, deadline for entry to the Awards is Friday 26 February 2010. HRH The Princess Royal will present the trophies at a lunch on 13 Mayth 2010 at The Landmark London. Following this year’s success, the Awards will be hosted by actress and campaigner Joanna Lumley.

According to Paul Alger, deputy director, UKFT, being shortlisted for, or even winning, an Award, “tells the world unequivocally that the business is an international player and is a great encouragement to all who work for a successful exporter by recognising the contribution of the whole team. Given the tough economic climate, UKFT will offer, for the first time, a cash prize to the winner of the small business category.”
