UKFT Awards announces 2015 winners

London Fashion Week designer Erdem, menswear brand Drakes, premium womenswear label Teatum Jones and luxury London store Browns were among the winners at this year’s UK Fashion and Textile Awards, which took place in London last week.

Celebrating the business success of the UK fashion and textile industry at home and oversees, the awards held at Tobacco Docks were hosted by Jack Guinness and model Amber Le Bon, while the awards were handed out by HRH The Princess Royal, in her role as president of the UKFT. Winners were all decided by a judging panel which this year included Patrick Grant, Henry Holland and Harvey Nichols fashion buying director Anita Barr.

One of the big winners included Erdem, the London Fashion Week designer scooped the Designer Business Award, beating off tough competition from Imogen Belfield and Teatum Jones, who were awarded the UKFT Womenswear Award.

The Menswear Award was won by men’s tailoring brand Drakes, who was up against Blood Brother and Timothy Everest, while the Accessories Award was given to Noel Stewart Millinery, and Tootsa MacGinty took home the UKFT Childrenswear Award.

Designer Olivia von Halle was honoured with the Lingerie Award, Alice Made This for the UKFT Rise Newcomer, Joshua Ellis & Co. for Textile Business Award, Sourgrape for Let’s Make It Here, and Alex Begg & Co. scooped the Exporter accolade.

Luxury London boutique Browns were named Retailer of the Year, the accolade was collected by executive officer Simon Burstein.

In addition, the Natwest Outstanding Achievement Award was awarded to James Sugden, chief executive officer of Johnstons of Elgin. The award honours the long-standing achievements of an individual in the fashion and textiles industries.
