This summer, Dutch design duo Viktor&Rolf will treat us to the exhibition ‘The House of Viktor&Rolf’. The retrospective will be presented at the Barbican Art Gallery from 18th June until 14th September 2008. It’s for the very first time the designers are exhibiting in the UK. On the Barbican Art Gallery website they are referred to as ‘radical en highly influential'.
An overview of the last fifteen years of Viktor&Rolf will be on. Part of the exhibition are the mushroom shaped pieces from the Atomic Bomb (1998-2000) collection; creations from the Russian Doll collection (1999-2000), where the models were wearing haute couture pieces of 70kg; and the Bells collection (2000-2001) with creations covered in hundreds of bells. Show stopper of the 2006-2007 show, the strapless bridal dress covered in silver, including the brides’ bouquet will be on show too.
Especially for this exhibition, the Barbican museum shop will be turned around into The House of Viktor & Rolf shop; accessories, clothes and fragrances by V&R will be available to purchase.
