Iconic British designer, Dame Vivienne Westwood is honouring the 20th anniversary of Vive La Cocotte this winter with the launch of a limited edition capsule collection based on the theme of her Gold Label Autumn/Winter 1995 show.

The 20 piece limited edition collection features Cocotte dresses made of silk satin, with a floral print available in pastel shades of blue and pink as well as black, retailing for 2,950 pounds. In order to commemorate the collection launch, Vivienne Westwood displayed a selection of outfits from the original collection in her boutique in London, which is said to reflect the designer's affinity for 17th and 18th century French salon culture.

"This Cocotte corset and dress has been a staple and a classic of the collection, said Brigitte Stepputtis, head of Vivienne's Westwood couture during an event last week at the store on Davies Street, London. "It’s not like we set out to create a classic. It evolves. We have mastered it to a certain extent but it doesn't stop there. The development goes on over the period of time."

"We have decided to celebrate the Cocotte corset because it was inspired by strong women in the past who were in charge of their own lives — witty, intelligent women who had their own income and who wore amazing dresses. It was used as a symbol of punk and of rock ‘n’ roll," she added.
