Scandinavian brand Weekday, part of the H&M Group, has launched its first-ever sustainable swimwear collection made up of waste materials including recycled polyamide and recycled polyester.

“We are very proud to announce the introduction of our first swimwear collection made from recycled waste materials,” said Weekday creative director Louise Lasson. “It feels really great to be able to give our customers such a nice looking and versatile collection, made from low-impact materials.”

The debut collection for both men and women aims to marry “sharp simplicity” with “sporty elements” using the recycled ocean plastic, with details including ultra-thin straps, fine ribbing and cleans lines alongside sporty details such as high-neck lines, thick straps, raw elastic bands and buckles.

The swimwear makes a bold statement with its vibrant colour palette of yellow, red, pink, tan and black, and has a mix-and-match approach with new styles for women including 4 bikini sets and 4 one pieces, while for men there are 4 new swim shorts and one pair of briefs.

Accompanying the swimwear collection is a series of “tourist look” accessories, such as waist bags, backpacks and a beach towel as well as a small range of sun protecting visors and caps.

Prices range from 8 pounds for a pair of bikini bottoms to 20 pounds for a swimsuit for women, while the men’s swim shorts and briefs are 18 pounds.

The full swimwear collection is available now.
