Peter Williams, the former CEO of Selfridges, is interested in acquiring LK Bennett, the British shoe, accessories and clothing retailer which was put on the block in November last year.

Williams, who left the top role at Selfridges in February 2004 after Canadian billionaire Galen Weston acquired it in summer 2003, is reported to be in talks with private equity groups about launching a bid to acquire London-based LK Bennett and its 46 stores in the UK. Linda Bennett, who founded LK Bennett in 1990, put the company up for sale after calling in British accounting company BDO Stoy Hayward to carry out a strategic review in November last year. Ms Bennett is said to have put a price tag of £75 million (€108m) on the company.
