Winner Brit Insurance Design Awards

The overall winner of the first Brit Insurance Design Awards was announced on 18th March 2008 at the Design Museum in London. The Awards event celebrated the most innovative international design over the last 12 months and was hosted by Wayne Hemingway. Yves Béhar's One Laptop Per Child was declared the winner of seven categories. The design was considered the most boundbraking in the Product category and was created for children to improve their education in developing countries.
Other nomination included Beijing National Stadium by Herzog & De Meuron; a Penguin Classics Deluxe Edition; Mex-x wheelchair for the Transport section; and fashion artist Hussein Chalayan was nominated for the Fashion category for Airborne Autumn/Winter 07. All designs are part of the 100 list at the first Brit Insurance Designs of the Year exhibition until 27th April 2008.
