The retail battle will be on at the Oracle World Retail Awards 2010 taking place in Berlin on 22nd April. Retailers from Pakistan, Mexico, Russia, South Africa and Tokyo are competing at the world’s annual retail competition. Twelve awards per category will be revealed at the ceremony hosted at the German Historic Museum in Berlin. The awards are a growing part of the World Retail Congress programme, which will equally be held at the Intercontinental Berlin from 21st-23rd April 2010.
The shortlisted entries include Reliance Retail Limited (India) for Emerging Market Retailer of the Year; Sportsgirl (Melbourne) for Store Design of the Year sponsored by Capital Shopping Centres; Havaianas Concept Store (Brazil) for Retail Innovation Award sponsored by NCR; argos.com for Etailer of the Year sponsored by GfK and New Look is nominated for Responsible Retailer of the Year.
A further three awards will be presented during the ceremony to industry pioneers nominated by the awards’ grand jury, including the Outstanding Leadership Award (sponsored by Heidrick & Struggles); Multi-market Retailer of the Year and Retailer of the Year (sponsored by Oracle). The grand jury, a panel comprised from industry specialist, will meet two days before the awards ceremony, and will vote on the winner in each category by secret ballot following discussion.
The World Retail Awards are designed to recognise the outstanding innovation and creativity delivered by retailers across the globe.
